O2 Xphone
O2's new Xphone is a Windows-based Smartphone
that is virtually identical to the Orange
SPV and shares pretty much the same
features.
More conventional in layout than the
O2 XDA range, the
Xphone still packs the same powerful operating
system into the phone.
Physically, this is a slightly larger
than average phone but the size and weight
are fairly typical for a smart phone. Local
connectivity to a PC can be done through
a cable, infra-red or Bluetooth. Network
support is tri-band GSM with GPRS.
The Xphone has 32Mb RAM available to
the user, expandable through the SD card
slot, and it can also support SDIO peripherals.

The screen size is a fairly large 176x220
pixels, and the Xphone comes with a VGA
resolution camera with video recording facilities.
The key strength of any Windows-based
phone is the software package, and the Xphone
comes with Pocket Outlook, Windows Media
Player, Pocket Internet Explorer, ActiveSync
and Instant Messaging applications. If you're
used to a Windows-based PDA, then the applications
should be quite familiar.
We are still trying to determine the
availability of this handset in the UK.
